How to Turn off Autoplay in Xp

Auto-play feature begins reading from a drive as soon as you insert media in the drive. As a result, the setup file of programs and the music on audio media start immediately. Sometime you don't want this feature by default provided by windows xp. You must want to disable or Turn off Auto-play feature.

So how to do that ? Its so easy to do just follow these below steps you will get the solution.

Before that you should have some basic idea about "Group Policy" of windows because we are going to change the default settings of the "Group Policy". Any way it is not so difficult lets do it.

Steps:

1- Click on Start->Run in Run dialog box type "gpedit.msc" without quote

The Group Policy window will appear and two major option one is Computer Configuration & User Configuration.


Its better to  Turn off Autoplay in the Computer Configuration as well as  User Configuration to avoid conflict.

Double Click on Administrative Templates then click on System and form the right panel double click on "Turn off Autoplay" select Enable & from the "Turn off Autoplay on" drop down box select All Drive then click OK button.

Do same in the User Configuration
2- User Configuration -> Administrative Template ->System -> Turn off Autoplay

Now you have successfully Turned off the Auto play Feature.
